Basic First Aid for teachers, teaching assistants, lunchtime & break time supervisor and caretakers
The course is aimed at delivering immediate first aid to children in your care but is not a replacement for the recommended Level 3 First Aid at Work (RQF) nor the Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification.
The course consists of practical and theoretical activities.
A range of subjects is covered including:
- Assessment of the situations
- CPR & AED – Adult & Child
- Choking – Adult & Child
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Management of Seizures
- Minor injuries
- Head injuries
The Instructor is responsible for determining whether candidate pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning. The Instructor will only award a pass if he/she believes that delegates have displayed the required understanding and competencies at the end of each session.
It is recommended that candidates attend annual refresher courses.
A maximum of 12 candidates per Instructor is recommended for this course. Up to 36 candidates can be accommodated on this course (space dependant) and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to participant.
