Duration – 2-3 hours
Basic First Aid for children (aimed at 8-11 year olds)
This course is designed to give a basic understanding of first aid for children in a fun, constructive way. Children will learn practical skills through role play within the classroom, home, playground or park environments.
The course can be done in one session or sessions spread over a few days or weeks if required, consisting of practical and theoretical activities. Lessons can be planned to suite the requirement of the school. (This can be arranged to fit into the schools timetable)
A range of subjects is covered including:
- Assessment of the situations
- Resuscitation – adult & child
- Choking – adult & child
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Minor injuries (including bleeding & fractures)
- Head injuries
- Breathing difficulties
- Safe use of an AED
Assessment is undertaken by observation and oral questions. The Instructor will only award a pass if he/she believes that delegates have displayed the knowledge and competencies to receive the certificate.
An achievement certificate is awarded to students who complete all the syllabus
A maximum number of 16 per lesson is ideal
