Course description

This course has been designed to cater for a cyclist wishing to hold the British Cycling Ride Leader Award.

“Those ride creators who have attended a Ride Leadership course are required to hold a valid emergency first aid certificate so that they are insured to lead rides using British Cycling’s Insurance for Coaches, Leaders and Instructors. This can be completed before or after the course though we recommend completing it before you attend the Ride Leadership Award so that, on completion of the course, you can begin leading right away”.

Syllabus

  • What to do in an emergency & scene safety
  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR Adult & Child)
  • Dealing with wounds, bleeding and suspected fractures

Assessment

Assessment is undertaken by ongoing observation and oral questioning. The Instructor will only award a pass if he/she believes that delegates have displayed the knowledge and competencies to receive the attendance certificate.

Certification

On completion of the course the participant will receive an attendance certificate which is evidence of training recognised by British Cycling
